The WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub launches new website

The WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub is excited to announce the launch of our new website, https://walsih.au, a go-to resource for anyone engaged in Western Australia’s health and medical life sciences industry, providing up-to-date information on services, funding opportunities, events, and sector news.

Whether you are a researcher, clinician, entrepreneur, or industry professional, the new WALSIH website offers a seamless way to stay informed and connected. Visitors can sign up for the WALSIH newsletter to receive regular sector updates, explore upcoming events, and even book a meeting with the team. Additionally, the site provides valuable insights into WA’s broader innovation ecosystem, making it a useful tool for both local and international stakeholders to discover what WA has to offer.

The WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub is a collaboration between MTPConnect, the Western Australian Government, and the University of Western Australia (UWA). It plays a pivotal role in accelerating the growth of WA’s health and medical life sciences sector, fostering commercialisation, attracting investment, and driving economic diversification.

Led by Dr Tracey Wilkinson and Professor Kevin Pfleger, the WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub delivers a broad suite of activities designed to support innovation at all stages, from discovery research to scaling companies. The Hub works closely with MTPConnect’s national team and international networks, including through Biodesign Australia, to facilitate meaningful connections and opportunities for WA stakeholders.

Located in the UWA offices at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research Building in Nedlands, the Hub is one of five WA Government Innovation Hubs dedicated to strengthening key industries through strategic initiatives and capacity-building programs. Other Innovation Hubs include CyberWest, the WA Data Science Innovation Hub, GreenTech Hub, and the Creative Tech Village.

The new website reflects the Hub’s core mission:

  • Connect: Acting as a ‘concierge service’ for the sector, helping innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs forge strategic partnerships with local, national, and international players.
  • Propel: Providing tailored commercialisation support, the team assists with securing funding, navigating regulatory pathways, and expanding into global markets.
  • Transform: Through workforce development programs, curated events, and ecosystem-wide collaboration, the WALSIH team are working to position WA as a global leader in health and medical life sciences.

We encourage you to explore our new website and take advantage of its features. If you’re involved in WA’s life sciences sector, this is your hub for valuable resources, insights, and opportunities. Share the website with your networks—both locally and internationally—to highlight WA’s thriving life sciences ecosystem.
