WALSIH Impact Report released: the evidence behind seven years of ecosystem growth and impact

The WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub is proud to launch its Impact Report, bringing together seven years of action through data, case studies and outcomes that demonstrate how coordinated, partnership-led activity can strengthen WA’s biomedical sector.

The report highlights WALSIH’s role in supporting innovators, researchers, clinicians, and companies across the full innovation pipeline, from early translation pathways through to global expansion, while helping grow jobs, attract investment and build workforce capability within WA.

Structured around WALSIH’s three strategic pillars, ‘Connect, Transform and Propel’, the report reveals how activities delivered in partnership with the WA Government, MTPConnect, and The University of Western Australia have translated into tangible outcomes.

Key highlights from the report include:

*Company-reported outcomes from 40 companies who have received strong support from WALSIH.

PLUS:

• 120+ companies have been supported by MTPConnect-led concierge service and UWA-led advisory through 1000+ consultations
• MTPConnect’s WA’s team has supported 148 grant applications, resulting in $55M+ of non-dilutive funding
• 111 Perth Biodesign Flagship and iPREP graduates (since 2023)
• 4 new start-ups seeded through Perth Biodesign (joining a portfolio of 9 created since inception)
• 235+ events hosted with 4000+ attendees plus 3800+ upskilled in key capability areas across 350+ events

WALSIH’s activities have enabled WA-based innovators to improve investment readiness, build commercial capability and access global markets, while supporting job creation and economic diversification.

Beyond the metrics, the report features case studies that bring the impact to life, showcasing how innovators and companies have successfully navigated their journeys with WALSIH support, and how global connections have been built while retaining capability in WA.
